It has been reported that Dr. Asif Mehmood was the only Democratic candidate from Congress District 40 and his supporters included the front line leaders of the Democratic Party. 

There were those who spent millions of dollars more on their election campaign than Dr. Asif but still failed.

It is learned that with this victory, Dr. Asif has become the first Pakistani to win the primary election for the mid-term elections of the US Congress and he has won the first stage to become a member of the Congress.
