Aligarh Muslim University professor charged with blasphemy against Hindu deities

Police have registered a case against a professor of Aligarh Muslim University for allegedly insulting Hindu deities and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Dr Jaitender Kumar, a professor of forensic science at the university's medical college, is accused of referring to certain Hindu deities while lecturing in his class on sex crimes and forensic science.

He is alleged to have said during a presentation that some Hindu deities had allegedly committed rape.

After the PowerPoint slides of his presentation came up on social media, a former student of the university and Dr. Nishit Sharma from BJP has lodged a complaint against him with the police.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Sharma alleged that a medical college professor had given very vulgar and uncivilized examples of Hindu deities like Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Andrew and some other deities. They are things that you and I can't even talk about. "

He added, ''I demand that a case be registered against him and that the professor's conscience be shaken.'' They should also be excluded from teaching.

Police have registered a case against Dr Jaitender for insulting religious sentiments and are investigating the matter.

The university administration has suspended Dr. Jaitender and given him a notice to submit his explanation within 24 hours.

According to Aligarh Muslim University spokesman Omar Pirzada, a two-member committee had been formed to investigate the allegations against Dr Jaitender.

Meanwhile, Dr Jaitender has apologized unconditionally for the incident. In a letter to the university's vice-chancellor, he wrote: Seek unconditional forgiveness. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

It was just to highlight that rape has been an old problem in society. I consider it an unintentional mistake. I assure you I will never make that mistake again. "

Complainant Dr. Nishit Kumar said that teaching of any subject is not allowed without the approval of the head of forensic medicine department.

Therefore, a case should also be registered against the head of the department.

University spokesperson Omar Pirzada said that after receiving Dr. Jaitender's reply, the administration would review it and take a decision in the light of the report of the inquiry committee.
