Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan has said that Australia's visit to Pakistan is a "huge opportunity" for Pakistani cricket fans around the world. Wasim revealed that Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hawley had sent him a personal message before the start of the first Test, thanking him for his involvement and initial efforts in arranging the tour.

According to private TV, Wasim Khan said that Hawkeley thanked me for all the hard work that went into finalizing the details of the tour for about 18 months. He addded, ''I am also in constant touch with the management of Cricket Australia and players like Usman Khawaja.''

He emphasized the importance of the visit and said that it was unfortunate that New Zealand and England had given up on visiting Pakistan last year.

Wasim Khan added that now the two countries have no reason not to visit Pakistan later this year. He said that it is good that such positive news is coming from Pakistan, the statements of Australians are very encouraging, which is a really proud moment for Pakistan.

Wasim Khan said that he was personally disappointed with the decision of New Zealand and England, in fact we were all disappointed because we all worked hard to make this visit possible.

Wasim Khan, while considering the post of CEO of English Cricket, rejected all the rumors circulating in the media about him.

Addressing a seminar organized by the Pakistan Society of the University of Warwick, he said he was happy to be back at the university.

"We had a great and interesting conversation. I advised them on how to shape their careers and how to deal with the obstacles. They also shared their experience of working in Pakistan," he said.

Wasim Khan made his first-class debut for Warwickshire in 1992 and was the first Muslim British Pakistani to play professional cricket in England. After retirement, he joined the Cricket Foundation. He was instrumental in establishing the Foundation's  50 million "Chance to Shine" program.

He was awarded an MBE in 2013 by the Queen for his services to cricket. Wasim Khan has been the CEO of Leicestershire County Cricket Club since 2014. He became the managing director of the PCB in 2018 and then the CEO before resigning in 2021.
