Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq made history against Australia''

The opening pair became the first pair of any country to form a century partnership in both innings against Australia in 51 years.

Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafiq have become the first Pakistani openers to have a century partnership in both innings of a Test against Australia. The opening pair, who wanted to post a defensible total against Australia in the Rawalpindi Test, have bagged another honor. The opening pair also became the first pair of any country to do so against Australia in 51 years.

The feat was performed in 1971 by England's Geoffrey Boycott and John Edrich.

This is the second time in terms of any wicket partnership that a Pakistani batting duo has scored a century partnership in both innings of a Test against Australia. Younis Khan and Azhar Ali had earlier done the same in the third wicket partnership against Australia in the UAE in 2014.

Besides, this is only the third time that a Pakistani opening pair has made a century partnership in both innings of a Test against any country. Earlier, Imran Farhat and Tawfiq Umar had done this in 2003 against Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore against South Africa and in 2021, Abdullah Shafiq and Abid Ali had done it in the first Test against Bangladesh.
