Drama, film, digital media can tell your story to the world, says Federal Minister for Information
Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain inaugurated the screening of Pakistani films at Dubai Expo 2020.
Addressing the function, Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that his story could be conveyed to the world through drama, film and digital media. The other country had big cinemas.
He said that after the 1970s, the film industry and cinemas in Pakistan were not given due attention and due to lack of proper attention, the film industry was in decline.
The Federal Minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has taken steps to revive the film and drama industry.
He said that the government with special focus on cinemas has reduced the taxes levied on them including reduction in electricity rates, at present cheap electricity is being provided to cinemas.
The Federal Minister said that the government has also taken steps for revival of film industry, abolished all taxes on film industry, imposed taxes on foreign materials to encourage local content.
The Information Minister said that taxes shouldn't be levied on foreign dramas so that our own people could work in dramas and advertisements. The Federal Minister said that there are beautiful tourist spots in Pakistan where the NOC procedure for filmmaking is also being simplified. Pakistan Pavilion is like a diamond in Dubai Expo.
The Federal Minister said that Pakistani films presented here are for international audiences. It should be noted that in Expo 2020, Pakistan is promoting its cinema by screening its blockbuster films. 11 Pakistani films will be screened in Pakistan Pavilion.
On the first day of the inauguration ceremony, Taifa In Trouble was screened. Federal Information Minister cut the ribbon and started screening of films in Pakistan Pavilion. The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistanis residing in the UAE.
