Former President Asif Ali Zardari is in trouble
NAB appeals in the 25-year-old case against Asif Ali Zardari have been fixed for hearing
Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari got into trouble. NAB appeals in the 25-year-old case against Asif Ali Zardari have been fixed for hearing. According to details, the court has fixed NAB appeals against Asif Zardari in Ursus Tractor and ARY Gold References. The Islamabad High Court on Monday fixed both the NAB appeals for hearing.
The appeals will be heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amir Farooq. It may be recalled that former President Asif Ali Zardari was accused of accepting 10 million$ bribe in ARY Gold reference. Former President Asif Ali Zardari was accused of corruption in the tractor scheme in the Ars Tractor reference.
But the accountability court acquitted the former president in both cases.
However, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has challenged the acquittal of PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari. The NAB took the position that the NAB had challenged the impeachment of Asif Ali Zardari in 2014, and to date no notice had been issued to former President Asif Ali Zardari.
At the last hearing, the NAB had sought adjournment of the hearing till the appointment of a new prosecutor.
It may be recalled that in July this year, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had sent a notice to former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in which he was asked to respond regarding the property in New York. In the notice, it was stated by NAB that Manhattan is your apartment in New York which was not disclosed in Pakistan.
Apparently no legal money was sent from Pakistan to buy this apartment. The NAB also directed that the details of the alleged New York apartment be submitted on June 24, 2021.
