For the first time, a mosque has been nominated for the Stirling Prize, the UK's largest architect award.

The Cambridge Central Mosque, built on a wooden structure, is the first eco-friendly mosque in Europe to rely heavily on green energy.

The design of the mosque is a beautiful blend of Islamic and English architectural traditions, costing around 20 million British pounds.

One thousand people can pray in the mosque at a time. This mosque was opened to the public on April 24, 2019.

The mosque has been nominated for the Sterling Prize for Outstanding Architecture. 

''The award will be announced on October 14''.
