We will support efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons: Shah Salman
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz says Saudi Arabia will support efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
In a recorded speech to the UN General Assembly, King Salman bin Abdulaziz said that Saudi Arabia would support all efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
"Saudi Arabia emphasizes the importance of keeping the Middle East free of weapons, and on that basis we support international efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons," he said.
"Iran is a neighboring country and we hope that in our initial talks it will build strong trust based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs," he said.
He added that Saudi Arabia was continuing its fight against extremist thinking.
It should be noted that the statement made by Saudi King Rawa at the United Nations comes at a time when world leaders are urging renegotiation of the 2015 nuclear deal, while the Iranian president in his address to the United Nations called for US sanctions is the demand for lifting on Iran.
