Director of CIA meets with Army Chief
William Joseph Burns, director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was also present on the occasion of the meeting at GHQ Rawalpindi.
According to ISPR, issues of mutual interest between Pakistan and the United States were discussed during the meeting.
According to Pakistan Army Public Relations Department, security in the region and the current situation in Afghanistan were also discussed during the meeting.
According to ISPR, the Army Chief said that Pakistan was committed to a stable and prosperous Afghanistan, while the CIA chief appreciated Pakistan's role in Afghanistan and its withdrawal efforts.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesman, William Joseph Burns also appreciated Pakistan's efforts for stability in the region.
According to ISPR, Pakistani officials reiterated that Pakistan is committed to cooperating for peace in the region.
It is to be noted that the CIA chief has also visited Afghanistan and India in recent days.
