Ashraf Ghani

Tajikistan has denied that Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's plane landed in the country's airspace.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country yesterday after the Taliban laid siege to the capital, Kabul, and reports claimed that he had fled to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

Now, however, Tajikistan's foreign ministry says Ashraf Ghani's plane did not arrive in Tajikistan.

The Tajik Foreign Ministry denied that Ashraf Ghani's plane had landed in Tajik airspace, landed in Tajikistan, and that Dushanbe had not received a request on Ashraf Ghani's case.

On the other hand, media reports have claimed that the Afghan president's plane was not allowed to land in Tajikistan, after which he flew to the Gulf state of Oman, from where he is likely to go to the United States.

However, it has not yet been confirmed in which country the Afghan president is currently.
