Ahmad Shah Masooud's son also announces conditional support for the Taliban
LONDON: Ahmed Masood, the son of the late Afghan leader Ahmad Shah Masood, says he is ready to negotiate with the Taliban if they do not exchange views at gunpoint.
Ahmed Masood, in an interview with Atlantic Council Senior Fellow Kamal Alam, said that he believed in a regional solution through stability and mutual cooperation and would never accept the dictation of a foreign power like his father.
Talking about the current situation in Afghanistan, Ahmad Masood said that Ashraf Ghani had failed to provide security and political leadership to the Afghan people.
He said that Afghanistan needs an honest strategic partnership with Pakistan and Pakistan and Afghanistan should work together for political stability and security.
''He added that his father Ahmad Shah Masood wanted a strong relationship with Pakistan based on mutual respect.''
