After protests in Bangladesh, removed the image of the joint flags

The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, has removed the cover image of the Pakistan flag with the Bangladesh flag from its Facebook page at the request of the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The joint flag of Bangladesh and Pakistan was placed as the cover photo of the Facebook page on 21 July.

Although the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh said that Pakistan did not do this under any special plan, the reason behind asking for its removal was that Bangladesh did not want to get into any political controversy due to this image.

Since the image was uploaded, several organizations have issued statements criticizing it for insulting the Bangladeshi flag.

However, a few months ago on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, many countries released their country's flag image with the Bangladeshi flag as a goodwill gesture.

A Dhaka-based official said the request to remove the photo was due to a political dispute.

Explanation of Pakistan High Commission

The Foreign Minister said that the Pakistani High Commission informed that they had posted similar pictures on the Facebook pages of countries like Singapore, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, which were made by combining the flags of Pakistan and those countries.

He said that the cover image of each of them was applied exactly as it was done with our flag. He did not do it under any wrong plan.

In response to a question, he said that he was satisfied with the explanation of the Pakistan High Commission.

The foreign minister also said that he thought that if he can put a Facebook cover page with the flags of other countries, he can also put a picture with the flag of Bangladesh. He (Pakistani High Commission) said that no other country has objected.

It should be noted that when the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh was holding a press conference, the Pakistan High Commission had removed the picture with the Bangladesh flag and replaced it with a picture with the Pakistan flag.
