Modi remained criminally silent on hurting the feelings of Muslims

Nupur Sharma, a key member of the extremist wing of the Indian ruling BJP, committed the heinous act of blasphemy, which caused a wave of grief and anger among Muslims around the world.

Slogans of boycott India started rising on Twitter, the hashtag of Allah Rasoolullah or Modi is trending on Twitter, Muslims of Arab world have also expressed their strong reaction and this trend is also on top in Saudi Arabia.

Violent protests and strikes were observed in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh against the incident. Incidents of stoning by angry people came to light, police arrested 17 people on charges of rioting.

Demonstrations are taking place across India over the provocative statement of a member of the Indian ruling party. On the other hand, Nupur Sharma says that his statement has been distorted.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has traditionally maintained a criminal silence on the issue and has avoided any apology, but a statement has been issued by BJP general secretary Arun Singh.

The statement said that every religion has been respected in the country for thousands of years. The party respects all religions, and strongly condemns insults to any religion. His party is against any ideology that denigrates any sect or religion.

Nupur Sharma is working as a BJP spokesperson and is considered very close to Narendra Modi. The BJP has suspended his party membership over Nopur Sharma's statement while a case has also been registered against him on charges of insulting religious sentiments.

Despite the registration of the case, the police have not taken any action against Nupur Sharma so far.
