The Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh is searching for two Indian Army soldiers near the Chinese border who have been missing for the past fortnight. He was last seen in his post on May 28. The military says no trace of him has been found.

The military has appointed an investigation panel to investigate his disappearance.

It is raining heavily these days in the mountainous region of Anjau district and the flow in the rivers is very fast. According to some reports, it is suspected that both the soldiers drowned in the river. The place where the accident took place is very close to the LAC. There are large numbers of troops on both sides of the LAC in the region. China claims most of Arunachal Pradesh. Many districts of Arunachal Pradesh meet the Chinese border. There have been several instances in the past where locals have strayed or for some other reason entered the Chinese territory and were captured by Chinese troops. In some cases, the Chinese captured Indian nationals during patrols and took them away. He said he had entered the Chinese territory illegally.

However, in the latest incident, the Indian Army believes that it was an accident and both the soldiers may have drowned in the river, though there is no witness to this incident. According to locals, no such incident has been reported.

The incident comes at a time when China has accused India of being responsible for border tensions between India and China.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Mbab in Singapore, the Chinese Defense Minister said, "The cause of the Sino-Indian border dispute is very clear. That is not the responsibility of China.

After the bloody clashes in Ladakh in June 2020, the armies of the two countries have been deployed in large numbers on the Ladakh and northeastern borders. Despite several rounds of talks, tensions have not abated. Recently, the US Secretary of Defense had also said that China has deployed troops to a dangerous extent in the border areas of Ladakh.

Meanwhile, Indian police arrested two Chinese nationals on the Bihar-Nepal border on Sunday evening who were allegedly trying to leave India for Nepal without any valid documents. A security commander of the border force said that the two Chinese nationals came to Nepal from China and came to India from there. After settling in India, he was now trying to return to Nepal. They are being further questioned.
