US double standards

US double standards: pressure on world to comply with sanctions imposed on Russia: India's purchase of oil is not a violation: White House spokeswoman

White House spokes woman, Jane Sackie

"We don't think India is violating sanctions on oil purchases from Russia," said Jane Sackie at a press briefing.

The White House has once again adopted its double standards, saying that if India buys subsidized oil from Russia, it is not a violation of sanctions on Russia, ''but to do so would put New Delhi on the wrong side of history''.

According to the report, in a briefing, White House Press Secretary Jane Sackie called on all countries to follow the sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia after Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Asked to comment on Russia's purchase of subsidized oil, he said he did not think it would violate the sanctions, but did advise India to consider sending it to Ukraine. Where the issue wants to stand.

She said that at a time when history is being written, the support of Russia and the Russian leadership would be tantamount to supporting an attack that is certainly having a devastating effect, according to Indian media reports.

The firm Indian Oil Corporation has purchased 3 million barrels of crude oil (from Russia) which Russia supplied with huge discounts on prevailing international rates.

Indian media also pointed out that this is the first purchase by a trader after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. India is the third largest consumer and importer of oil in the world and meets 80% of its needs through imports but Only 2 to 3% of these purchases come from Russia.

Commenting on India's alleged purchase from Russia, the US media said that India has not yet condemned Russia and abstained from voting on UN resolutions condemning the attack on February 24.

Since then, several US officials have urged India to distance itself from Russia, but they have also acknowledged India's heavy dependence on Russia.

Russia is India's largest supplier of weapons, including missiles and fighter jets. Includes small arms and ammunition for aircraft.
