On the last day of the second Test match of the series played at the National Stadium, Karachi, Pakistan resumed their second incomplete innings with 192 for two.

Earlier in the day, the first challenge for Abdullah Shafiq and Babar Azam was to face the Australian fast bowlers on a new ball used in just two overs. 

Both players defended early in the day and prevented the Australian bowlers from taking wickets, but both the batsmen looked relatively confident after the spinners' attack.

Both players played responsibly and kept the Australians from taking wickets for almost the entire season, but Abdullah Shafiq fell victim to the nervous nineties just a few overs before the lunch break. 

The young batsman not only played a brilliant innings of 96 runs but also forged a 228-run partnership with Babar to brighten Pakistan's hopes of drawing the match.

Abdullah Shafiq's 96-run innings with six fours and a six on a total score of 249 came to an end at the hands of rival captain Pat Cummins. 

He came and made only 9 runs, then his deputy Muhammad Rizwan came to support Babar and both of them continued to score while batting.

Babar Azam batted well and crossed the 150-run mark. However, the captain of the national team proved to be very lucky with an individual score of 161 and the Australian fielders could not catch him on two consecutive balls by Mitchell Swapson. 

At break, Pakistan had scored 310 for four, with Babar Azam at 168 and Rizwan at 14.

After the tea break, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam took a slightly more aggressive approach and scored a few boundaries to advance the team's score. 

Babar Azam made many records while batting brilliantly but he could not complete the first double century of his Test career by just 4 runs and after playing his best innings of 196 runs, he got out on the ball of Lyon. 

The captain was dismissed for 392 runs, after which Faheem Ashraf also returned to the pavilion in the next ball at zero.

Mohammad Rizwan continued to bat responsibly but new batsman Sajid Khan added 9 runs from the other end and the match entered a very interesting phase once again. 

However, Mohammad Rizwan teamed up with Noman Ali Protected from loss and also completed his century, Pakistan scored 438 runs for 7 wickets at the end of the game on the last day and equalized the match, Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten with 104 runs, Nathan Lyon from Australia.

It should be noted that Australia, while batting first, declared the first innings at 556 for 9. In response, the Pakistani batting line was completely flopped and the entire team was bowled out for 148 in the first innings.
