Hales, who was part of the Kolkata team, said: "I am really worried about missing out on one of the best opportunities of my career as the last two years of Bubble's life have affected my mental health.

"I would like to thank the Kolkata Knight Riders for believing in me during the auction and for their continued support in recent weeks," the English cricketer said.

Hales' thrilling form for Islamabad United in PSL 2022 got him a contract in the IPL where he was to play for Kolkata for Rs 15 million.

It is noteworthy that he had earlier withdrawn from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to "bubble fatigue" but Hales returned to the league after reaching the playoffs of Islamabad United.

Aaron Finch will join Kolkata at a cost of 1.5 crore Indian rupees. The Australian has played 87 IPL games and scored over 2000 runs in the IPL.
