Shabana Azmi's unique advice to stop opposition to hijab in India
The case of a hijab-wearing student in front of Hindu youth in a college in the Indian state of Karnataka has also forced prominent personalities to speak out against bigotry.

The video went viral on social media with the hashtag 'Allah Akbar' and the response from around the world, including himself, Indian politicians and well-known celebrities also supported the student, sharply criticizing the practice in opposition to the hijab.
Senior Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi also reacted to the incident and came up with a unique proposal to silence the extremists.

Sharing a picture of the girls using the Indian flag as a scarf on Twitter, Shabana Azama wrote, "What do you (the fanatics) think about defeating them in their own game?"
Shabana Azmi also tagged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in her tweets.
Priyanka Gandhi said that women have full right to dress as they wish, harassment should be stopped.

Earlier, a Muslim student who was harassed said that she always wore a burqa but the college principal never objected to it. In an NDTV interview, the student said, "Our priority is our education." They are depriving us of our right to education behind a piece of cloth. Hijab is part of our identity for which we will continue to protest.
According to the latest update, the Karnataka High Court has referred the matter of ban on hijab to the Larger Bench. The Larger Bench will also look into the matter of temporary relief.
