''Petition filed in Supreme Court to maintain Nawaz Sharif's lifelong disqualification''

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court to maintain Nawaz Sharif's lifelong disqualification. According to details, a new constitutional petition has been filed in the Supreme Court in which former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been asked to maintain his disqualification for life. The petition takes the position that Nawaz Sharif was convicted by the trial, Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panama scandal, the petition for removal of lifelong disqualification should be dismissed as inadmissible.
The petition also requested that the decision of disqualification of Nawaz Sharif from lifelong parliamentary politics be upheld. It may be recalled that a constitutional petition was filed in the Supreme Court last week against the life disqualification of Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen.
The petition was filed by President Supreme Court Bar Ahsan Bhawan. The petition filed by Ahsan Bhoon contended that the principle of lifelong disqualification should be applied only in electoral disputes, adding that the Supreme Court could not conduct proceedings ''as a trial court under the power of Article 184/3.'' Article 184 (3) does not give the right to appeal against a court decision.
The petition further said that not getting the right to appeal against the judgment of the court is against the principles of justice. Rights are also violated. The Supreme Court has set parameters for the application of Article 62 in judicial decisions.
