Pakistan cricket team chief selector announces national squad of 16 players and five reserve players for the three-Test series against Australia

The chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team has announced a national squad of 16 players and five reserve players for the three-Test series against Australia. The first Test of the series between the two teams will be played in Rawalpindi (March 4-8), the second in Karachi (March 12-16) and the third in Lahore (March 21-25).

Three changes have been made to the national Test squad for the Test series against Australia. Fast bowler Harris Rauf and opener Shaun Masood have returned to the Test squad. Harris Rauf was part of the national Test squad against South Africa and Zimbabwe. Shaun Masood last represented Pakistan in a tour of New Zealand in the season 21-20.

''Both the players have been included in the squad in place of spinner Bilal Asif and opener Abid Ali.''

Yasir Shah, the 21st member of the squad, has been included in the reserve players.

Players who are not part of the HBLPSL 2022 in the National Test squad will be part of the training camp at the National Stadium Karachi from Wednesday 16th February.

Muhammad Waseem, Chief Selector Pakistan Cricket:

Pakistan cricket chief selector Muhammad Waseem has said that instead of making major changes in the national Test squad for the Test series against Australia, a continuity has been maintained.

He said that this would not only boost the confidence of the players but it would also be considered as a reward for their excellent performance in the year 2021.

Muhammad Waseem said that these are the best, most talented and most in-form players available in domestic cricket. He is confident that all the selected players will perform well in the series against Australia.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Thaqleen Mushtaq as Pakistan's head coach for another 12 months.

Muhammad Yousuf has been appointed as the batting coach for the Australia series while Shaun Tate has been appointed as Pakistan's fast bowling coach for 12 months.
