The flight to London was diverted because the passenger did not wear a mask
An American Airlines flight from Miami to London had to return after a passenger refused to wear a face mask.
American Airlines says Flight AAL 38, with 129 passengers on board, returned to Miami where police were waiting.
According to reports, the police took a 40-year-old woman off the plane and took her away.
According to the airline, further investigations are pending, however, the woman has been added to the list of people banned from flying with American airlines.
According to the trekking service Flight Auver, Wednesday's flight was diverted an hour after the start of the journey. Steve Free, a passenger on the plane, told Miami Local News that the woman was traveling in first class.
"She was drinking heavily. I was aware of the situation and had been warned several times.
"They are very disappointed," a passenger who landed on Wednesday told the media. We weren't told anything, they probably didn't tell the other flight crew either. "
The crew said they could only report that something had happened to a passenger, after which they had to return.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, airlines reported nearly 6,000 incidents of passengers going out of control last year, most of them passengers who refused to wear masks.
