Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has expressed frustration over being ignored for being nominated for the ICC Men's Test Player of the Year award. Shaheen Afridi, who is currently ranked third in the Test rankings, had a brilliant year in 2021. He took 47 wickets at an average of 17.06 in just 9 matches in the Test format last year. He took 5 wickets in three innings and 10 wickets in one Test match in 2021.
In an interview, Shaheen Afridi said: "I thought I would be nominated for the ICC Test Player of the Year but it didn't happen. Now I will work harder for next year so that I too can be nominated for this category.
The 21-year-old pacer was determined to work harder next year to be nominated for Test Cricketer of the Year.
Shaheen Afridi said that it was an honor for him to be nominated for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. Shaheen Afridi said that I have always tried to do good for Pakistan in every format, now that I have been nominated, it is for Pakistan. It's not in my hands whether I get the award or not but in my hands it was just my performance that I did, I think it's a success. Four cricketers, including Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan and Fatima Sana, have been nominated for various ICC awards.
The winners of the women's awards will be announced on January 23, while the winners of the men's category will be announced on January 24.
