Pakistan-India relations: The 'love' on social media took the young man from Bahawalpur to the desert of India

The 'love' on social media took the young man from Bahawalpur to the desert of India

It is often said that love unites people but if you take a big step in love without thinking then this love can take you not only to the middle of the desert but also behind bars.

This is what happened to Muhammad Ahmar, a 21-year-old resident of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, when he crossed the India-Pakistan border illegally last month to meet his beloved in Mumbai, but instead of reaching his destination, he Arrived in the desert district and is now being interrogated by Indian security forces and is in custody.

According to the officers investigating the case, five hundred rupees were recovered from them at the time of arrest but no weapons were found. However, the security officials did get a love story to hear from Ahmar.

According to the officers involved in the investigation, Muhammad Ahmar was in touch with a Mumbai resident through social media. According to a relative in Bahawalpur, Ahmar befriended an Indian girl on Facebook and talked to her for hours.

According to Indian media reports, Ahmar told the authorities that he had applied for a visa but it was rejected, after which he decided to cross the border.

According to Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma, the interrogation of Ahmar revealed that he was in touch with a girl in Mumbai through social media and fell in love with her.

According to Anand Sharma, during the interrogation, Ahmar said that the girl told him to "come to Mumbai" and he crossed the fence and came there.

"They were thinking that after crossing the fence they would reach Mumbai, as if Mumbai was on the other side of the fence."

Not the first case

It should be noted that the distance between Anupgarh and Mumbai is 1400 km.

Local SHO Phol Chand confirmed the incident and said that on the night of December 4, in the Anupgarh area of the Sri Ganganagar desert district of Rajasthan near Bahawalpur, after crossing the India-Pakistan international border, The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) had taken him into custody.

SP Anand Sharma said, "After crossing the fence and coming towards India, he was spotted by a BSF officer and asked to hand himself over to the security forces, whereupon he handed himself over to the personnel. Gave. '

Will be sent back if found innocent

SHO Phol Chand said that a joint investigation committee comprising representatives of various security agencies has been formed to interrogate the arrested boy and verify his claims.

The committee visited Mumbai to find out that the girl they were claiming to love was a real person, they were definitely in touch with him and their intention was not illegal.

Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma has confirmed that the investigation team has also met the girl. "We are almost certain that no anti-government activity is involved, but the central agencies are also investigating at their own level," he said.

He said that when it was proved that he was completely innocent then BSF would have a flag meeting with Pakistan Rangers. "If they (Pakistan) recognize him as their citizen and that he has crossed the fence, he will be returned," Sharma said.

"Otherwise, we will inform the Pakistani embassy in New Delhi so that they can take up the matter themselves," he said.

He said that according to the investigation team, the girl in whose love Ahmar crossed the border was an ordinary girl studying in college and he admitted that he used to talk to Ahmar but he (this love). I was not so serious.

Sharma added that according to the girl, "she was talking to Ahmar for fun. He jokingly said, "Come on," but never thought he would come.

Ahmar's cousin Arshad told that Ahmar's father is ill in Pakistan and he has been bedridden for a long time while the eyes of the old mother are also waiting to see her son. According to Ahmar's cousins, Ahmar's two brothers work hard in nearby areas.

Ahmar's cousin has confirmed the picture of Ahmar released on Indian media that the picture is of Ahmar.

According to Indian media, Indian security officials have spoken to the youth's mother and village number, but no formal action has been taken so far to secure his release.

'Innocent Reasons' to Cross the Border

This is not the first time this has happened in recent days.

Although Rajasthan and Gujarat adjoining Sindh have fences along most of the border between India and Pakistan, there have been many incidents of crossing the border in recent days for 'innocent reasons'.

Alauddin, 30, from Bahawalpur, crossed the Sri Ganganagar border last month but was not found with anything suspicious during interrogation. In August 2021, a young man from Tharparkar district of Sindh entered Kachh district of Gujarat state after a quarrel with his family. In April 2021, an eight-year-old boy also accidentally crossed the international border in the Barmer sector.

Similarly, there are cases of crossing the border from India to Pakistan. In November 2020, a man from Barmer, Rajasthan, crossed the border into Sindh because he was allegedly sneaking into his girlfriend's house and was spotted by her family and arrested.

Earlier, in July 2020, a resident of Usmanabad area of Maharashtra tried to cross the border to meet a girl from Karachi. The man met the girl online and fell in love and set out to cross the border.

He got out of the house on a motorbike with the help of Google Maps but lost consciousness due to water shortage in a deserted area of Kachh district adjacent to the border more than one thousand kilometers away from his house. Found

The red case is the latest. SP Anand Sharma, quoting the phrase "reality is more strange than fiction", said that it was a coincidence that "in Anupgarh, where Ahmar crossed the border, there is also a shrine of Laila Majnoon."

It is not certain that Laila Majnoon is buried there but there was a time when her disciples from both sides of the border used to come here to pray for success in love.
