Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections

After the defeat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections, Pakistan's Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan wrote on Twitter that the PTI had made mistakes in the first phase of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections and then paid the price. ۔

Even before the full and final official results of the elections came out yesterday, the impression was being created on social media that the popularity of the ruling party has waned in the province which is considered as the stronghold of PTI. Accused.

According to him, this was due to the selection of unsuitable candidates. Imran Khan said that from now on he would see Hikmat Ali of PTI in the second phase of local body elections. He expressed the belief that the PTI would now emerge as a strong party.

Fawad Chaudhry's analysis contradicts Imran Khan's opinion

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry's analysis on this defeat of PTI is completely different from that of Imran Khan.

He later said in a TV program, which he later retweeted, "Local government elections on local issues are in the local community, in factions. It does not have a national color."

In another tweet, Fawad Chaudhry advised his party workers to organize themselves under the leadership of Imran Khan.

According to the results so far, the candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Maulana Fazlur Rehman's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) are leading in most of the cities but the PTI has also suffered defeat in several important areas.

The results have revealed the results of returning officers of 24 tehsils in Peshawar local body elections in which JUI candidates have won in 12 out of 24.

Besides, PTI has won five seats, ANP three, Independent one and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz three.

Jamiat candidates are also leading in Kohat and Bannu tehsils. The Awami National Party in Mardan and the PT candidates in Nowshera seem to be winning.

The position of the candidates for the Peshawar city mayoral seat is such that the Jamiat candidate is at number one, PTI at number two, Awami National Party at number three and PPP at number four.

Why Peshawar result delayed?

According to Election Commission spokesman Sohail Ahmed, there was a commotion at some polling stations of a Neighborhood Council in Peshawar during the polling, after which polling was stopped there.

"There will be re-polling at these polling stations after which the results will come out," he said.

Sohail Ahmed further said that some time would be required in this whole process after which the Election Commission would announce the re-polling.

According to Sohail Ahmed, polling was also stopped in Bakakhel Tehsil of Bannu District while in Dera Ismail Khan City mayoral candidate Omar Khattab Sherani was shot dead by unknown persons a day before the polling due to which the City Mayor Elections were postponed

Why PTI has difficulties in elections?

When provincial journalists Shaukat Yousafzai and Atif Khan were asked by local journalists why the PTI was upset, they blamed inflation.

Shaukat Yousafzai said, "Defeat wins. I think we have problems because of inflation. This government has not been accused of any corruption. There is only inflation due to which people are suffering. We are trying to reduce inflation in two to three months. Imran Khan is also aware of this. Atif Khan gave a similar answer, saying that "the real reason for the results is inflation."

But on the other hand, it is being said that behind these results is also the hand of ticket distribution and infighting.

Speaking of Kohat, the second number is independent candidates belonging to PTI while the third number is its own ticket holder candidate of PTI.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mahmood Jan echoed this sentiment, saying: Was The MPA was also supporting an independent candidate in the adjoining constituency.

He said,''Those who were honored by the bat are sold for some money and for their own purposes and they did not support the party''.

Opposition parties return to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Senior journalist Irfan Khan told the BBC that there were differences within the party over the election of PTI candidates in Peshawar and some other districts due to which the ruling party could not perform well.

He said that on the contrary, JUI-F had worked hard for three years and maintained contact with the people, which had resulted in good performance.

It should be noted that in the past JUI-F was limited to the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but this time it has managed to improve its position in the local body elections in the central areas of the province like Peshawar, Charsadda and Swabi.

It is also important to note that in the past, the Jamiat has been winning along with other religious parties, but this time all the religious parties competed on their own and in some constituencies the candidates of Jamiat and Jamaat-e-Islami were ahead.

It should be noted that PTI emerged as the only major party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2013 and in the past local body elections as well as in the provincial and national assemblies PTI has been dominant.

According to Irfan Khan, the trend of people was mixed in the elections held yesterday but the support that PTI had in the past is no longer visible. "Voters were divided this time."

According to Irfan Khan, apart from Jamiat, the vote bank of Awami National Party, Pakistan Peoples Party and Jamaat-e-Islami also increased and it would not be wrong to say that these parties have regained the position they had before the advent of PTI. ۔

Comments on social media: 'PTI defeated PTI'

In comments on social media on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa results, while supporters of each party claimed their own victories, independent analysts and journalists also pointed out the real reasons behind the forthcoming results. May be important in general elections.

Iftikhar Firdous, a journalist from Peshawar, wrote on Twitter that "PTI was defeated because it was contesting elections against PTI in many places."

Journalist Omar Farooq wrote, “If we consider, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not won a single seat from the entire district of Peshawar because one of the seven tehsils which the PTI has won is also the former FATA ie Hassan Khel sub-division. Has won.

Nadeem Farooq Paracha wrote in his analysis on these results that it is disturbing for the PTI that since 2013 the opposition parties especially JUI-F and Awami National Party have achieved a lot in the province which is considered as its stronghold.

On the other hand, there was a section of government supporters on social media who claimed that the PTI had not suffered a major defeat as the final results were yet to come.
