PDM: Maulana Fazlur Rehman threatens to step down as PDM chief
At the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PPM) summit chaired by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the PDM president said that there was no point in my leadership if he did not resign.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if this is the way to go, then make someone else the head if the coalition government is not serious in sending home then there is no point in gossip
President PDM Maulana Fazlur Rehman threatened to step down from the presidency, saying that if there was agreement on resignations, then why the delay in resignation was being delayed.
According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that our position from day one has been to resign from the assemblies on which all the parties had agreed in principle but it is being delayed unnecessarily.
He said,''Repeatedly giving time to the government gives the impression that we are the facilitators of the government, but now it is time to get rid of that impression''.
According to sources, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif also agreed with Maulana Fazlur Rehman's position and said that we should work hard to send the government home but no response has been received from other parties so far.
According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman threatened to step down as PDM chief when PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif suggested a unanimous decision.
On the other hand, in a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that PDM has decided to hold an inflation march on March 23 in which people from all over the country would come to Islamabad to participate.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that PDM meetings would be held at the provincial level before March to mobilize the workers.
It was also decided that Shahbaz Sharif would convene a meeting of DM in Punjab, Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Balochistan and Owais Noorani PDM in Sindh.
He said that the issue of resignations was also discussed in the meeting but the decision on how to use the resignations would be taken voluntarily.
The PDM president said that a meeting of the steering committee of the alliance would be held tomorrow to review the implementation of the decision taken in today's meeting.
On the other hand, sources said that due to Fazlur Rehman's tough stance, the PDM agreed on the inflation march while Maulana Fazlur Rehman has also persuaded the PDM to hold a two-day sit-in.
The inflation of PDM will reach Islamabad on March 23 and the participants of March will stay in Islamabad till March 25.
