Saqib Nisar denies affecting Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz bail case, former judge Rana Shamim summons Islamabad High Court
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to appear before the court on Tuesday, taking note of his claim to have influenced the bail case of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Besides, notices of appearance have also been issued to the Attorney General of Pakistan, Advocate General of Islamabad, journalist Ansar Abbasi and management of Jang, Geo News.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had taken notice of the affidavit of the former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan. The notice was given a brief hearing by Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah today (Monday).
Earlier, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had asked former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim not to grant bail to former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz before the 2018 general elections. Has denied the allegations.
However, former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice Rana Shamim told the BBC that he stood by his affidavit and that he had been carrying the burden on his conscience for a long time but now He did not dare to carry this burden anymore so he has said everything about the affidavit related to this incident.
Rana Shamim said that if a commission is formed to find out the facts in this regard, he is also ready to appear before it.

Rana Shamim reiterated the claim made in his affidavit.
According to former Chief Justice Rana Shamim, former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had come to Gilgit-Baltistan on July 14, 2018 with a 27-member delegation. He was sitting on the lawn with his wife and was giving instructions on telephone.
According to Rana Shamim, the former chief justice's delegation also included two businessmen who wanted to build a hotel near a lake in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to Rana Shamim, he paid the expenses of all the members of the delegation out of his own pocket.
The former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan said that one day he was in the lawn with his late wife Mian Saqib Nisar and his wife when he saw that the then Chief Justice of Pakistan was upset and kept calling his registrar. Were talking and instructing them to go to such and such a judge.
According to Rana Shamim, the former Chief Justice of Pakistan was saying that you should talk to this judge and if you can't talk, then give my message to this judge of the High Court that before the general election to be held in 2018, former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif should not be released on bail at any cost.
The former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan said that addressing Mian Saqib Nisar, he said that if you have come here for holidays, then put all matters aside and spend your holidays.
Rana Shamim claims that at first the former Chief Justice of Pakistan got angry but after a while he changed his tone and addressing him said that he (Ranashim) does not understand the chemistry of Punjab and the chemistry of Punjab is very different from Gilgit Baltistan.
The former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan claimed that Mian Saqib Nisar calmed down when he received assurances from the other side during a telephone conversation and at the same time asked for another cup of tea.
''How can I say such sensitive things in front of them''?
Former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar raised the question of how he could make such sensitive remarks before the Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan and whether he could have a cup of tea to relax. I had to drink from Justice Rana Shamim.

He said that a few days ago, an NGO had organized an event in which he had given a speech. According to Justice (retd) Mian Saqib Nisar, the former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan was also present on the occasion and he feels that he may have found his speech offensive on which he has made such a statement.
The former Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the possibility cannot be ruled out that when he was the Chief Justice of Pakistan, he had refused to extend the tenure of Rana Shamim as the Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan.''Probably a factor as to why they're doing so poorly''.
Justice (retd) Mian Saqib Nisar further said that when he himself was the Chief Justice of Pakistan, why did he need to meet or give instructions to a judge regarding keeping the former Prime Minister in jail.
He said that he had not ordered any judge of the lower judiciary not to take bail of former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz before the general elections.

He said that after listening to the speech of the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, he realized that the former Prime Minister and his daughter were being deliberately trapped.
To a question, the former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan said that former Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had no authority to extend his tenure.
He said that apart from Pakistan, there are Supreme Courts in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and the privileges of the Chief Justice of all these courts are the same.
Rana Shamim said that the summary of extension of tenure goes to the Prime Minister but he did not make any request to anyone for extension of his tenure.
It should be noted that Rana Shamim retired on August 30, 2018 after completing his tenure.
It may be recalled that the appeal against the sentence passed by the accountability court on behalf of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif will be heard on November 17 in the Islamabad High Court.
