A summary is likely to be passed today to remove Tehreek-e-Libek's name from the list of banned organizations
The Interior Ministry has sent a circulation summary of the banned states to the federal cabinet for approval. The relevant summary is likely to be approved today.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved to present a summary in the cabinet to lift the ban on Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP). It is pertinent to note that at the request of the Punjab government, the federation had declared the TLP null and void under the anti-terrorism law in April this year after three days of violent protests across the country.
According to the text of the summary issued by the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs, the TLP had applied to the Punjab government on April 29 to lift the ban. The summary said that a review committee (PRC) was formed to look into the matter and concluded that the government's decision to annul the TLP was based on facts.
The Interior Ministry said that in the light of the wider national interest, with assurances from the organization, the provincial cabinet asked the federal government to reconsider its decision to outlaw the TLP. The summary said that the Prime Minister has given permission to submit the said summary to the Cabinet under Rule 17 One B of the Rules of Business 1973.
Regarding the lifting of the ban on the TLP, it was said that a request has been made to the Cabinet to approve the lifting of the ban on the TLP under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 at the suggestion of the Punjab government.
According to the Rules of Business 1973, the approval would mean that the summary would be sent to the federal cabinet, then the ministers' suggestions would be sent back to the prime minister for further decision on the matter, if no minister's position In other words, it means that they have approved the suggestions given in the summary.
He remained a member of the TLP Majlis-e-Shura
Allama Ghulam Ghous Baghdadi, Allama Farooq Al Hassan and Engineer Hafizullah Alvi, members of the Central Majlis-e-Shura of Tehreek-e-Labeek-e-Pakistan, have been granted bail by an anti-terrorism court after information about the summary came to light.
A TLP spokesman said workers and leaders were awaiting the release of Sahibzada Saad Hussain Rizvi. The names of 450 workers of the organization have also been removed from the fourth schedule. According to the spokesperson, the release of the TLP chief will further boost confidence and fulfill the agreement. The participants of the Prophet's Honor March are eager to welcome their leaders.
TLP protest
The issue of lifting the ban on TLP came up during the recent protests and was assured to be reconsidered. The TLP had launched a protest in Lahore on October 20 against the Punjab government for pressuring for the release of Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi, son of the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi.
Saad Rizvi has been detained by the Punjab government since April 12 to maintain law and order. However, the TLP leader later said that the move was aimed at honoring the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and demanded the release of Saad Rizvi.
During the protests and sit-ins in Lahore, the workers of the organization continued with the police for 3 days. Following the clashes, the TLP launched a long march towards Islamabad on October 22. Five policemen were martyred during the March clashes in Lahore and Gujranwala and a large number of people were injured by both the marchers and the police.
Later, as matters between the government and the TLP began to move forward, the protesters announced their stay in Wazirabad on October 30, following the announcement of the organisation's leadership, which is now there for 10 days.
Successful negotiations between the TLP and the government negotiating team also agreed to freeze the organization's accounts and assets and take steps to lift the ban on the organization.
