Release of banned TLP workers in Punjab
Lahore: Significant progress has been made in the agreement between the government and the banned Tehreek-e-Libek Pakistan and arrested workers are being released across Punjab.
Following the agreement between the government and the banned organization, implementation of important decisions taken at the second meeting of the steering committee has been started, under which orders have been issued to release the arrested TLP workers.
The Punjab Home Department approved the release of another 1,000 TLP members and issued orders to the concerned Deputy Commissioners. The Punjab government had arrested a total of 2,060 people. Since yesterday, 1,060 people have been released in two phases. 200 people were released yesterday while 860 people were released this morning. The remaining 1,000 have been ordered released today.
In the first phase, workers who were not directly involved in the violence and against whom there were no cases are being released. The released workers were detained for disturbing the peace. Those with cases against them are not being released.
It has also been decided to withdraw the appeal filed by the Punjab government in a double bench for the release of Saad Rizvi.
The district administration of Islamabad has also issued orders to release the arrested activists of Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan under 3MPO. All the arrested workers will be released after a formal notification is issued in this regard.
