The Taliban's decision to temporarily enforce the Zahir Shah-era constitution
The Taliban have decided to temporarily enforce the constitution of former Afghan King Zahir Shah.
According to the Afghan state news agency, a statement has been issued by the Afghan interim government's Ministry of Justice stating that the interim government will temporarily enforce the constitution of Afghanistan under former King Zahir Shah.
The ministry says laws from Zahir Shah's time that do not conflict with Sharia law will be enforced.
The statement said Interim Justice Minister Abdul Hakim met with the Chinese ambassador and said that the Taliban government would soon temporarily implement the constitution under Zahir Shah.
He added that the Taliban respects international law and documents that do not conflict with Sharia and the laws of the Islamic Emirate.
It should be noted that King Zahir Shah of Afghanistan has ruled for a long time and he ruled the country from 1933 to 1973. He passed away in 2007.
