A four-member Pakistan team has left Karachi for Belgium to participate in the World Road Cycling Championship which started on September 19 in Belgium.


Two women are also part of Pakistan's four-member team participating in the World Road Cycling Championships.


The World Road Cycling Championship will run from September 19 to 26 in Flanders with Khalil Amjad, Ali Ilyas, Kinza Malik and Asma Jan representing Pakistan.


 This is the first time that 2 women players from Pakistan are also participating in the World Championship.


Members of the Pakistan cycling team left Karachi for Dubai, Belgium on Thursday morning while Shoaib Nizami is with the team manager.

National cyclists had undergone extensive training in Karachi to prepare for the event, and national athletes were also receiving online guidance from foreign trainers.


Before leaving for the event, the Pakistani athletes pledged their best performance at the World Cycling Championships and stressed that the sport of cycling in Pakistan needs government sponsorship.


At the World Cycling Championships, Pakistani athletes will compete in the individual time trials event, the men's ITT event of 43.3 km track on September 19 and the women's 30.3 km time trial event on September 20.


Before leaving for Belgium, Asma Jan told that she will compete with herself and not with anyone else. She will try to make Pakistan famous by improving her records in this championship.
