DG ISI General Faiz Hameed arrives in Kabul, meets with Taliban representatives
KABUL: ''Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has reached Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan''.
A high level delegation accompanied by DG ISI also visited Kabul. A picture of General Faiz Hameed holding a cup of tea in his hand also surfaced at Kabul Airport. According to sources, the Pakistani delegation visited Kabul at the invitation of the Taliban's Afghan Shura.
Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed met with Taliban representatives to discuss the Pak-Afghan border security situation. Economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, security and other important bilateral issues were also discussed during the meeting. The situation on the Pak-Afghan border, the issue of overall security was also discussed and efforts were made to ensure that rioters and terrorist organizations did not take advantage of the situation.
The Pakistani Ambassador also called on the DG ISI and discussed issues related to evacuation and transit from Afghanistan. The issue of repatriation of staff of foreign and international organizations to Pakistan and pending applications in this regard were also discussed.
It should be noted that several countries have requested for the provision of transit facilities through Pakistan.
