OIC meeting

An emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will be held in Jeddah today to consider the situation in Afghanistan.

According to the foreign news agency, the meeting has been convened at the request of Saudi Arabia in which the latest situation in Afghanistan will be considered.

It is believed that the Taliban took control of the whole of Afghanistan, including the capital Kabul, on August 15, and talks are underway with various leaders to form a united government after the Taliban leaders announced a general amnesty in the country.

In addition to former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's brother Hashmat Ghani and Ahmed Masood, the son of anti-Taliban resistance leader Ahmad Shah Masood, Afghanistan's Northern Alliance has also announced its support for the Taliban.
