US Secretary of Defense contacts Army Chief, expresses desire to improve relations with Pakistan
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has called Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and expressed his desire to improve relations with Pakistan.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed the telephone call from US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa, saying the two discussed the security situation in the region and the achievement of common goals of stability.
John Kirby said that Lloyd Austin expressed interest in seeking mutual interests in the region as well as improving relations with Pakistan.
He said that the US Secretary of Defense and the Chief of Army Staff also discussed the expansion of Pak-US defense relations.
A Pentagon spokesman said Lloyd Austin also spoke by telephone with General Qamar Javed Bajwa about the situation in Afghanistan, regional security and stability.
